Residential Electrification Gets Boost from Eaton, Treehouse Collaboration
A global power management company known for its technology advancements is collaborating with a software-enabled installation platform for electrification in a joint effort designed to support the U.S. residential market.
Eaton on Nov. 14 announced it will work with Chicago, Illinois-based Treehouse to enable residential electrification projects, including electric vehicle (EV) charging. The groups on Thursday said their collaboration “brings together Eaton’s digitally enabled electrical solutions with Treehouse’s AI-powered software and end-to-end installation capabilities, helping expedite the energy transition and electrification at home with EV charging, energy storage, heat pumps and more.”
“Electrification hinges on smart solutions and the hard-earned expertise of electricians to make projects happen,” said Ben Burns, strategic programs manager at Eaton. Burns told POWER, “Our collaboration with Treehouse will help accelerate residential electrification programs with access to licensed electricians, streamlined projects and the needed solutions enabling demand-side flexibility that’s essential for utilities managing unprecedented load growth.”
Eaton and Treehouse said consumers wanting to electrify their homes need an understanding of installation time and costs, and also need access to licensed electricians to ensure code-compliant installations. Treehouse through its platform “will programmatically apply Eaton’s intelligent hardware solutions to specific installations and scope projects accordingly, helping ensure the smartest solutions are deployed at scale.” The companies said their work “will streamline and expedite retrofit and new construction projects from scoping, design, bid to installation and provide electrical contractors with pre-sold jobs.”
“This collaboration with Eaton represents a significant step forward in simplifying the electrification process for homeowners across the U.S.,” said Eric Owski, Treehouse CEO. Owski told POWER, “By combining Eaton’s cutting-edge technology with Treehouse’s software-enabled platform, we’re unlocking new levels of efficiency and scalability. Together, we’ll transform how residential electrification projects are executed, enabling faster, more cost-effective installations that drive greater adoption of EV charging, energy storage, and sustainable home solutions.”
‘All In On Energy Transition’
Paul Ryan, general manager of Connected Solutions and EV Charging at Eaton, said, “At Eaton, we’re all in on the energy transition and we’re making it happen at scale by delivering breakout technologies and industry collaborations needed to delight customers and make it more accessible and affordable. Treehouse consistently ranks among the highest in customer loyalty and satisfaction, which is vital for Eaton and our joint customers. We’re confident this collaboration will streamline and expedite U.S. electrification projects, driving consistency, reliability and sustainability—while saving time and money.”
The effort also advances Eaton’s Home as a Grid approach by simplifying and accelerating a safe energy transition. The companies said the collaboration will reduce obstacles to electrification and help ensure “the smartest, most effective solutions are deployed through Treehouse’s end-to-end installation platform and a nationwide network of contractors.” Eaton also said the program will help electricians complete more projects faster, while “providing consumers with detailed project scopes, accurate costs and access to licensed electricians at the point of sale to enhance transparency, fast-track projects and avoid unnecessary upgrades.”
“Eaton is both an industry leader and an innovating pioneer in the electrification age,” said Owski. “Our collaboration with Eaton will accelerate our ability to deliver turnkey and cost-effective electrification projects, from EV charging to home energy storage and heat pumps.”
Eaton as part of the agreement will become the preferred technology supplier for Treehouse installations. The company’s solutions for residential projects include the AbleEdge home energy management ecosystem, along with Green Motion EV chargers, and other smart home products.
The Treehouse installation platform for electrification projects helps several industries—including auto retailers, fleet providers, utilities, and electrification hardware manufacturers—scale electrification programs nationwide.
